Costa Rica is well-known for its excellent rafting facilities. The rivers Pacuare and Reventazon – both close to Finca Pura Vida – rank among the top ten rafting rivers in the world.

Furthermore, you can have fun canyoning, you can go on guided walks or mountain bike trips or you can enjoy a day on the back of a horse. For a real adventure, try Canopy! It’s an exciting and novel way of seeing the rainforest. Hooked to a steel wire rope, you will fly from treetop to treetop and experience the rainforest from a bird’s eye view. If you have no head for heights, however, you better stay on the ground.

Nationalpark Tapantí
It´s just a one day trip and you can enjoy tropical high rainforest and if you have goog luck you might see some wildlife.

Vulcano Turrialba
On a clear day you are able to see the crater of the Turrialba volcano. There is still coming out some smoke. It´s really worth to go up. You can leave your car at the station of the park rangers.

National Monument Guayabo
If you are interested in Costa Rican culture, go to see the Guayabo National Monument. At the foot of Turrialba volcano, approximately 20 km North East of Turrialba town, there is a archeological excavation site showing a pre-columbian settlement.

From Fica Pura Vida, take a day trip to the biggest National Forest in Costa Rica, to Parque Internacional de la Amistad. Here you will find Costa Rica’s highest mountain, Chirripo, and some aboriginal people reserves.

Close to Finca Pura Vida:
For a little outdoor adventure you can follow the river at Finca Pura Vida upstream. Walk along the main trail and after approximately one kilometer you come up against a gate that will lead to the neighboring estate. Do walk through but do not forget to close the gate after you. Walk uphill along sugar cane and coffee plants and enjoy the magnificent view of the Rio Tuis valley. After one hour and a half you will find yourself back on the main trail. You can either follow this trail downwards back to Finca Pura Vida or you can continue uphill for another 3 km. There the trail ends.

If you enjoy mountain-biking, this is the place to be. Most roads around Finca Pura Vida are not tarmacked. Go to Las Colonias, Sta Christina, to Tuis or Pacayitas.
